If your dryer leaves clothes damp after a cycle, it’s not really doing it’s job. However, there may be a quick fix for problems like this. That’s why our dryer repair Springfield technicians are happy to offer up some expert advice.

Here are some DIY dryer repair solutions you can try before calling for service:

Dryer Not Drying Clothes

If your clothes are damp after drying, you might need to clean your dryer vents and lint screen. Lint build-up restricts air flow to your dryer which leads to drying issues.

Use an appliance brush and vacuum hose to remove lint from clogged dryer vents. Clean the lint trap after each cycle. Other common causes include:

  • Heating element is burned out
  • Thermal fuse is faulty

Dryer Squeaking

A squeaky dryer is one of the most obnoxious sounds there is. The noise might be due to loose screws. Pinpoint the the noise and tighten any loose screws.

Another common cause is a loose dryer belt. Simply tighten the belt if it’s in good condition or replace it if there’s damage. Other common causes include:

  • Drum roller is worn out
  • Idler pulley is damaged

Dryer Won't Start

If your dryer won’t start when you push the button or turn the dial, it could be due to several factors.

Before calling for help, though, always check the incoming power. Is the power cord securely in place? The solution to a dryer not starting may be that simple! Other common causes include:

  • Start switch is defective
  • Drive motor has failed

LG Dryer Error Codes Explained

LG dryers are a growing favorite in homes all across the nation. But even the best machines will experience a breakdown at some point. The experts at Mid America Service are here to offer you professional insight to common LG dryer problems we see every day.

Error Code CL

If you didn’t know already, many LG dryers have a child lock safety feature. A CL error code simply means the child lock is on. To turn the child lock off, press and hold the child lock button for 5 seconds. However, if this doesn’t disable it, there may be an issue with the main control board. In this case, you’ll need to call for repair.

Error Code tE1

When your dryer displays a tE1 error code, this usually means there is an issue with the thermistor. This part senses the temperature of your dryer as it runs through a cycle. Before assuming the thermistor has failed, reset your dryer. Unplug the unit, hold the Start/Pause button for 5 seconds, then restore the power. If your dryer still shows this error when you try and start a new cycle, the thermistor should be replaced.

Error Code d80, d90, or d95

When you find one of these three codes displayed on your LG dryer, is means there is a problem with the exhaust system. Typically this indicates a clog and the exhaust duct is 80%, 90%, or 95% blocked. The solution is to clean your dryer vents. Doing so can also protect your home from a potential house fire. We recommend having a professional clean them every six months.
